As you may have noticed, things rarely slow down here at Misfit Inc. So it is that - not satisfied with twelve days in Malawi, and an upcoming return to good old England - Misfit commander-in-chiefs AJ and Mel managed to squeeze in a quick train trip.

I say ‘quick train trip’ - what I mean is a 75 hour, 3,215 mile journey from Los Angeles to New York. Here’s a recap of the journey:

A 72 Hour Journey on Amtrak from Misfit, Inc. on Vimeo.

Most of the Misfits have, at one time or another, embarked on long Amtrak expeditions across the US of A - and we hereby declare it to be the single most effective way to get intimate with the aesthetics of this big, big country. The sunsets, the emptiness, the clear skies, the back-end-of-nowhere towns. It really is something else. If you ever get a chance, tear up that air ticket and put down those car keys. Do it pioneer style.

Both AJ’s and Melissa’s photostreams are overflowing with wonderful images from their adventure. Go and have a scroll. In the meantime, here is a selection - in approximate geographical, East to West order - of some of the best shots.

(Union Station, Los Angeles)

(Eastern Arizona)

(somewhere in Colorado)

(crossing the Des Moines river)

(Kansas City)

(Changing trains in Chicago)

(Gibeon, Virginia.)

(home sweet home)

So. Another adventure finished, and (many) more to come. We hope you too get a chance to see the US by train; it’s a special thing.

Have a great weekend, fellow Misfits. And remember, in the words of Misfit emperor AJ: “Don’t follow well-lit paths, grab a machete & hack down your own.”
